pieces of virginia's blue ridges

Little did we know, we live just 4 hours from a place that gets no cell phone reception for a 40-mile radius and seems to live several decades back in time.

My parents' small, rural town of Hatchechubbee, Alabama could never beg to be as isolated as the small clusters of towns scattered throughout Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains.

It's truly a place where you can get away and go slow.

In fact, most everyone there seemed completely relaxed and worry-free.

We just missed the leaves at peak,

Though there were still a few hanging on a little longer than expected.

More on our weekend in beautiful Virginia later!

  1. I loved taking the tour..It really was charming.

And the 3rd house that you liked. It used to be the conductor's house. We live right by the railroad station...which I LOVE. Love to hear the train....so much.

    More later,
    Kary

  2. Oh, how I would love to live in a place like that where eveyone slows down! Folks here are in a constant rush.
Your corner of the world is beautiful, too! I believe I'll have to get there for a vacation....
