I made these Pilgrim hats for my students and my EfM class. I find that adults are usually bigger fans of these sorts of things than children. They can appreciate both the craft and the sugary sweet fatness.

In making these, I have discovered that the only way to keep them from looking like they came over on the Mayflower several hundred years ago

is to dip the marshmallow bottoms in the melted Baker's chocolate,

then stick them on the fudge cookies (I used Keebler fudge-striped cookies and flipped them over so the all-fudge side would show),



and let them solidify in the fridge for 20 minutes or so before proceeding to the next step.

For the next step, simply use a butter knife to spread a thin yet opaque layer of chocolate over the remaining white parts of the marshmallow.

Refrigerate them until the chocolate is solid, and use yellow cake-decorator icing to make the little square buckle.

So, all you need for this is:

Fudge Cookies

Marshmallows that aren't smushed

Dipping Chocolate, such as Baker's

Yellow Cake Decorator Icing with a fine-tip cap
