personalizing

How do you get ready for company?

I like something freshly baked (even if it is a boxed muffin mix or something from the bakery),
a personalized "Welcome" sign,
guest towels laid out with a little treat on top,
fresh flowers all over the house,

and a jar of cheerful salt water taffy in the guest room.

And then we spend the weekend sharing our favorite things, which this weekend just so happened to include Southern-style gelato. Among other things.

So, tell me:
How do you get ready for company?

  2. Yeah, that is always first! Along with a few Glade scented candles here and there so it doesn't smell like DOG!!!

  3. It depends on the company; cleaning and fresh towels, baking something,...
By the way, a name day is a celebration of our name. Read the comment right above yours!!!

  5. Love your ideas! Are you taking reservations?! :)

Nothing motivates me to clean quite the way having company does :) and if the company is from far away I like to treat them to a meal w/ New England "flavor"/local foods.

  6. I put little glass milk bottles by the bed filled with water and mint. In the bath I have travel size shampoo/conditioner/mouthwash/lotion that I accidently picked up (stole) from the Ritz. I ALWAYS make sure every bathroom has a blow dryer.....a total must! oh, and I fold the toilet paper into a point and emboss a "B" on it. I'm totally obsessive about my guests!
oh, and one simple flower by the bed as well.

  7. So sweet! What great little welcome for your visitors-- and I want to go stay at Kendall's house! Aside from cleaning, I like to put out fresh flowers, and make sure there are lots of easy appetizers--we buy good brie, bread, cured meats and olives, as well as a lot of fresh berries, to put out before dinner.

And maybe YOUR house as well, Melissa!
