I ordered samples of all of these fabrics yesterday:

Lots of projects are in my head, including curtains, pillows, and maybe even attempting to sew a slipcover for a chair and ottoman this summer.

Any thoughts on these fabrics?

Now, for the funnies:

I took this photo on my last trip to Greenville, SC. I was tired and grumpy from unsuccessful househunting and being badgered by Realtors, so I decided to stop by Starbuck's for a bottle of water and some chocolate covered espresso beans. I sat outside in the sun and noticed this on the table where I was sitting:

Speaking of smoking, did you hear that a study has shown that smoking lowers the risk of Parkinson's disease? Of course, they weren't saying people should smoke, but they do hope to discover why cigarettes lower the PD risk and put that information to beneficial use. Article here.

funny friday: meet the smiths

Meet the Smiths. They're a great, all-American family. John Smith wears his tie just a smidge too tight, little Johnny Smith (who will one day grow up to be John Smith) never sweats in his argyle sweater vest, and the lady Smiths always wear their gracious smiles and lovely necklaces past the age of 2.

The Smiths, like any other family, have their dirty little secrets which sometimes show up when least expected (and most often, they show up in their vintage, pastel underwear).


Bacteria, for example, peeks his taunting face in at the worst possible moments,

Pollen doesn't know when to leave,

And pet dander just makes himself at home as if he's one of the kids.

And Humdity and Odor? Well, let's just say you really know when they've arrived.

Yes, yes. This is yet another add that gave me a good, hearty laugh! This one was in Better Homes and Gardens advertising for Lennox Home Comfort Systems. It's the expressions on those guys in long underwear that got me, I think.

funny friday: does your laundry detergent make you feel like THIS?

I can't even begin to surmise the number of times I've wanted to do this with the warm bundles of clothing that come out of the drier-- especially on cold, rainy days. This lady obviously embraced that feeling.

Now, I've begun tearing out the ads that really make me smile or laugh to hang on the fridge where they often catch my eye as I'm rushing around.

I'm thinking one day I'll frame them and make a "funny wall" in the office area.
